TORONTO, CANADA — APRIL 13, 2026
Taking place at TED2026, The Listening Room is dedicated space of relaxation for the conference attendes to recharge amidst the hustle and bustle of the conference. With a focus on mindfulness and wellbeing, organisers have created a soothing enviorment where Moodsonic’s generative biophilic soundscapes will be played through eight BSP200 speakers from Bluesound Professional.
The 10m x 11m space is designed to feel like a tropical rainforest, with ambient lighting and draperies contributing to the immersive experience. Attendees are invited to visit the calming retreat and experience how soundscapes can be used as a powerful tool for relaxation.
BluOS serves as the control and management platform for Moodsonic’s soundscapes, ensuring consistent playback and flexible sound distribution throughout the space. Input from sensing microphones allows the soundscape to intelligently adapt to what is going on in the room. This allows the natural audio environment to be tailored for a calm, balanced atmosphere. For fast and efficient deployment, NETGEAR switches are used, taking advantage of the onboard network profiles for Bluesound Profesional products where port and network settings are pre-configured. This plays a key role in simplifying what is typically a complex setup for events of this scale.
“By combining Moodsonic’s soundscaping expertise with BluOS’s cutting-edge wireless platform, we have created an environment where sound and technology will enhance attendee experiences,” explains Graeme Harrison, Vice President of Bluesound Professional. “We are excited to see the potential impact of these soundscapes on visitors, offering them a chance to truly decompress during the conference.”
This installation complements the event’s ‘All of Us’ theme, a celebration of connection and coming together to enjoy collective experiences. Julian Treasure, one of this year’s guest curators, has selected a range of speakers who will present on various aspects of mindful listening, from wilderness sounds and human listening to compassion.
The Listening Room is a perfect example of how biophilic soundscapes can be used beyond their conventional settings, such as office environments or wellness institutions. By incorporating them into a high-profile event like TED, it demonstrates the growing role of sound as a restorative tool, enhancing wellbeing and fostering mindfulness in a variety of venues.
TED 2026 takes place in Vancouver, Canada from April 13 to April 17. The Listening Room can be found in room 210, accessed via the City Foyer on Level 2 of the Vancouver Convention Centre.
